Thanks for your interest in my services…

Virtually every business needs to communicate. Not all businesses can fully manage those needs in house.

Whatever your specific need, you want to know if I’m the writer to fill that need for you and do so in a way that meets your goals and brings you accolades.

To that end, I’m sure you have some questions. Let me answer them.

Q: What are your qualifications as a copywriter?

I started off with solid writing skills and a degree in psychology. Blended in some direct and indirect sales experience. Went on to extensive studying and training in direct response copywriting, persuasion, sales and marketing.

In practice, I’ve written copy for a multitude of clients. The results I’ve produced have consistently exceeded expectations. And I deliver on time.

I’m a direct response specialist. This is what I passionately do full time – it’s not a part–time, side line. As a freelancer, I write for different clients, different products and services, direct selling materials, indirect selling materials, short copy, long copy… essentially anything with the goal of customer acquisition, retention and sales or simply persuading an audience. My specialty is email marketing and autoresponders.

Q: Do you have experience in my field?

If you’re a business reaching out to buyers and customers, chances are I have experience dealing with your type of product or service – or something very similar. Ultimately every product or service is unique in some way.

I have the most experience in finance (including real estate and investments), alternative health (including nutrition, acupuncture and various energy modalities; humans and pets), service businesses and informational products.

Before I write any copy I do extensive research to learn the specifics about your product or service and about your audience as well. This forms the foundation of matching the message to the market.

Q: What kind of assignments do you handle?

I can handle the full spectrum of copy needs. The bulk of what I write is email – autoresponder series and individual promotional emails.

My specialty is making a connection with the copy so that it leads to a response rather than being easily dismissed or forgotten.

Q: Do you write SEO articles and blog posts?

Yes I do. The process varies for each client. Some clients have a list of topics and keyword phrases. Some clients have a business objective and want me to choose the most appropriate keywords and article/post topics. Either way works.

Do understand, I don’t write keyword stuffed articles that read poorly. Ultimately that technique backfires anyway.

All my writing is original and unique.

   Q: What’s your writing style?

Tone of course varies with each message and market.
My style favors…

  • Consultive over coercive in approach
  • Conversational, personal and friendly over jargon laden, formal and stiff in language
  • Clarity and simplicity in ideas and language
  • Reader focussed rather than narcissistic
  • Being relevant and resonating rather than screaming lounder or verbally mugging the reader
  • Persuasive and leading to action

Q: How long does it take?

Different projects naturally take a different amount of time. My schedule varies as well. Generally I’m booked several weeks out.

If your schedule is more rushed – let me know. If I feel I can do a good job for you within that time frame, I'll accept it and deliver on time.

   Q: What about revisions?

Revisions are included in the project. Just let me know within 30 days what changes you’d like and I'll do them quickly at no charge.
Typically, clients are delighted with my first draft or sometimes request minor revisions. If you’re not completely satisfied, I'm happy to do as many as two rounds of revisions at my expense to meet your specific guidelines.

Q: How much do you charge?

I generally charge on a per project basis. Because projects vary quite a bit, so does the fee. Just let me know what kind of project you have in mind and I’ll quote you a fee.

   Q: What’s your payment policy?

With first–time clients and projects up to $1,000, full payment up front is required. For projects over $1,000 scheduled payments are acceptable – typically 50% up front and 50% on completion.

   Q: What’s your process?

At the start of a project, I delve deep into research – research about your prospects, research about your product or service and research about your competition.

From a point of thoroughly understanding these three aspects, I distill the most relevant core emotional message. Using that core emotional theme, I craft each element of the piece.

Then I go through as many polishing and editing iterations as it takes to ensure the piece is consistent, flows seamlessly and is emotionally compelling. I alternate between going through it repeatedly and letting it sit for a day or more before coming back with fresh eyes.

Once I’ve delivered the copy to you, I welcome your review and comments.
If you need revisions, I’ll get those done quickly.

While I don’t require this, I like to check the piece in layout form. This gives you another set of eyes to look it over and allows me to make sure the components are all there and the design is as effective as it can be.

Q: How do we get started?

Contact me by email (Patti {AT} NeedCopyWriter.com) or phone (510.282.1795) and let me know what you’re selling and who you’re selling it to. Send along any collateral or literature and background material you already have. If I have any further questions I’ll let you know.

Once I have your go–ahead, I’ll write the material and deliver it on or before the agreed on date.
